Carrera Cup

Carrera Cup Australia will begin the 2009 season with changes to the category, with seven of the eight rounds being held on the biggest motorsport events of the year and the other being a combined Carrera Cup and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Shannons Nationals Motor Championship round at Phillip Island.

Beginning at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide in March, the 2009 season will see eight events in four states, culminating at the inaugural Sydney 400 at Homebush in December.

 

The category, which has grown into the premier sports car category in the country, will make history at the first-ever Townsville 400, while the Porsches will visit Phillip Island twice for the first time in a season.

The first visit to the Island will be in May as part of the Shannons National Motor Championships, while the second trip will be for the L&H 500 in September as part of the V8s Supercars Season of Endurance.

The Porsches will also stage a Championship round at the FORMULA 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the Nikon Indy 300, making them the only support category to race at Australia's major events and on the country's most sacred circuits.
